Based in Delhi, Wedlac is run by two professionals – Sumit Kochar and Mansi Arora. With a work experience of more than 12 years and a passionate mindset, here is what these 2 individuals have to share with us in one of their interviews :

1. Tell us something about yourself and your company.

Wedlac is an Old English word for Wedlock which means “locked into marriage”. The company came into existence in 2017 and is founded by 2 passionate individuals named Sumit Kochar & Mansi Arora. Where Sumit has an experience of more than 12 years of in Wedding Planning & Management, Mansi has experience of around 5 years in Design and Décor. Hence, Wedlac Weddings and Events is a one-stop solution for all your wedding queries as it believes in making your most special occasions memorable and beautiful!

2. What’s your competitive advantage and why can’t it be copied?

Our most competitive advantage is our Skill. Basically, the most important thing is to have the key and skill to achieve anything. Designs can still be copied, but the skill of conceptualisation, imagination and creation is what is unique in every person and hence, it can’t be copied!

3. What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?

Honestly, in the beginning, we had a limited clientele. We had a lot of ideas and we were always applauded for our work but because we had a limited circle, we got fewer chances to showcase our skills. But now, things have gone way better and we have different clients even from out of the country.

4. What are your expansion plans?

We have so many but our most desperate plan is to spread in the market out of India. With the experience of handling destination weddings in the past, we would love to cater to outstation weddings in Mountains, Islands, beaches out of India and remote places which one doesn’t even think of!

5. Tell our audience more about your failures? How should one bounce back?

This question made us realise how fortunate we are. Actually, being a less established company, we haven’t really faced many failures. Our work has always been liked by our clients and guests. Touchwood! There are always few clients with whom the equation doesn’t match which certainly is not failures but lessons for our betterment.

6. How do you define success?

Success for us is being happy and satisfied with the pace we are moving and also making our clients happy on their most special days! You know, that smile on the client’s face after being satisfied by our job as it’s not easy to be fully dependent on someone particularly unknown for your precious days and blindly trusting them. So just that smile is our success which then makes us super happy!

7. Please share with us some of the challenges you faced in your journey.

Honestly, in the beginning, we had a limited clientele. We had a lot of ideas and we were always applauded for our work but because we had a limited circle, we got fewer chances to showcase our skills. But now, things have gone way better and we have different clients even from out of the country.

8. What would advice to someone starting up and particularly to women entrepreneurs?

Just be yourself. Don’t get mad in the rat race. This business takes a lot of time to be established so only if you have patience and the ability to find happiness in your work, then only it will be a smooth road to walk on. For women entrepreneurs – There is no difference in gender in Wedding Planning! And with experience, you gain a lot of respect in this industry.
