Actor and Big Boss winner Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar who is a social media influencer kickstarted their wedding festivities with the Chiksa ceremony on 22nd December 2020. In India, the Haldi ceremony is considered a very auspicious part of the wedding celebrations. It is also known as Chiksa ceremony, where Chiksa stands for Haldi. This function is separately celebrated by the bride and the groom. Chiksa is applied on both to ward off nazar or the evil eye. At their Chiksa, the couple looked happy in love and were full of enthusiasm. They were dressed in colour coordinated yellow attires. While Zaid wore a pastel yellow kurta pyjama, Gauahar wore a pretty bright yellow lehenga from Maayera Jaipur designed by Rajdeep Ranawat.
The actress shared pictures of the function on social media. Zaid and Gauahar were photographed sitting against a background filled with the prettiest blue, yellow and white flowers. In another picture, they posed standing together. She captioned the picture beautifully. Her message conveyed that when half of her met half of Zaid, together their better halves shaped beautiful moments.
Her Haldi ceremony was full of fun moments and people greeting each other spreading positivity and warmth. There was a lot of joking and good-natured banter going on.
Sharing more pictures and videos of the ceremony, Gauahar expressed her joy at seeing Zaid dancing. She shares on social media how she wanted to write a thousand words but the magic, love and pureness in the video stole them away and that seeing Zaid this happy was pure bliss for her. The couple spent hours dancing to the upbeat music along with friends and family members. There was a lot of teasing, merriment and leg-pulling. Until finally, the would-be-groom lifted his bride to be in his arms and she was indeed swept away with joy. Soon enough the fathers of the groom and bride also joined the couple on the dancefloor.
This was followed by a lavish Mehendi ceremony for which Gauahar wore a golden coloured brocade lehenga with a blouse quirkily embellished with mirrors designed by Mayyur Girotra. She paired it with an ensemble of floral jewellery. The flower mang tika, floral bangles and necklace looked stunning on her. The Mehendi venue was ITC Grand Maratha. Zaid wore a white kurta and churidar as well as a jacket again colour coordinated with Gauahar’s blouse.
THE DREAM WEDDING
The duo tied the knot on 25th December 2020. They got married in a beautiful dreamy nikah ceremony. It was an intimate function only attended by close friends and family. The couple shared some lovely pictures of their wedding on Instagram and captioned them as: ‘Quobool Hai.’ In the pictures, Gauahar can be seen in traditional ivory coloured ensemble with gold and silver embroidery. It was designed by Saira Shakira from, Laam. It comprised of a knee-length zari embroidered kurta as well as a ghagra set along with an ornate chikankari dupatta. Gauahar completed her look with pearl, kundan and pastel-coloured gemstone jewellery. She wore the traditional paasa, choker, earrings, maharani necklace, hath phool and mang tika.
Prior to the wedding, Gauahar had also given a sneak-peek into her and Zaid’s lockdown love story through a digital wedding invitation. It unveiled how after they shopped for groceries together, they exchanged text messages and in one of them Zaid called her the most beautiful woman on earth. And despite the lockdown and the distance it created both found each other closer than ever before. Zaid proposed to Gauahar with a song while down on a knee and Gauahar of course, accepted it.
