Often, the weddings of celebrities are made beautiful by ace designers where the dresses, venue, and even the invitations have their unique touch. The destination wedding of Bollywood designer Sonaakshi Raaj and businessman Nikhil Merani was the perfect embodiment of the assimilation of aesthetics and affluence. Held at the island of Hua Hin, Thailand, the opulence and glamour of the Sonaakshi Raaj and Nikhil Wedding event was something to remember.
The designers for the designers’ wedding
Being the wedding of a Bollywood designer and a successful businessman, it was evident that everything from photography, food, and even the invitations would be one-of-a-kind. The particular items were designed and provided by the best individuals and companies of today. Let us know about the companies that provided the associated provisions of the wedding;
- Wedding planning: Krayonz Entertainment, who did a fantastic job of arranging the wedding and completed all the decorations tastefully.
- Photography: Isrrani Photography, the concern behind every photograph being the living testimony of the joy spreading around.
- Invitations: Puneet Gupta Invitations, who designed a beautiful and exquisite invite in water-color with overlaid botanical and sea-related imagery. They were also in charge of designing and distributing the digital invites and completed their jobs responsibly.
Each of these companies were intricately associated with the whole event and maintained the air and environment of an Indian beach wedding with élan.
The bride and groom – how they met
The meeting of Sonaakshi Raaj and Nikhil Merani resembles a sweet Bollywood story. Their families were friends in themselves, and in course of frequent dinners among themselves, met regularly. In these meetings, the future husband and wife also saw each other. In course of time, their friendship deepened and not long after, they realized something more has taken its place. It was Nikhil who took the bold step of acknowledging his feelings and proposed to Sonaakshi during their Maldives gateway.
The proposal was romantic in every sense – the golden beach, serenading sea, and singing breeze were the witnesses of that heartfelt proposal. After the elated bride-to-be accepted, they shared the news with their families and duly officiated it.
The wedding gala
True to the sense of Bollywood glitz and glamour, the couple initiated the festivities by a star-spangled cocktail night at Estella, Mumbai. Among the attendees from the Bollywood fraternity were names like Kriti Kharbanda, Sophie Choudry, Sajid Khan, Raveena Tandon, Nushrat Bharucha, and Karan Wahi, who celebrated with the engaged couple and graced the evening. Sonaakshi was the epitome of radiating beauty in an oxblood gown of her label and accessorized her ensemble with diamond jewelry from Renu Oberoi Luxury Jewelry. The groom-to-be was also looking handsome in a blue tuxedo. The night was accentuated by the performances of the friends, family, and invitees.
The pre-wedding functions
Before the actual wedding started, the designer held three private functions where only close friends and families were invited. These functions were somewhat traditional and were attended by the future married couple in the appropriate attire. The first one was Mata Ki Chowki, a ritual to ask for the blessings of the divine feminine.
The bride wore a beautiful sage-green gharara by Mohsin Naveed Ranjha while the groom wore a kurta of the same color. Secondly, at the Bridal Mehendi, the bride donned a bright yellow crop top and skirt. In the third event, the dhol night, the bride wore a pastel green gharara by the same designer while the groom chose a red and black kurta.
The Mehendi event
The couple held a grand Mehendi gathering in Avani+ Hua Hin Resort. Sonaakshi wore a mint polychrome lehenga with off shoulder tassel from her label with open hair studded with sprigs of colorful baby’s breath, keeping with the floral decor and purple drapes. Nikhil accompanied her by wearing a pastel yellow kurta and jacket set.
The wedding and reception
Sonaakshi designed her lehenga for her pheras and was a vision in the powdered pink ensemble looking like just the bride she wanted to be- regal, elegant, and enchanting. Her partner was looking handsome in a beige Sherwani and pink, floral print safa. In the reception, the couple donned a champagne-colored lehenga by Shantanu and Nikhil and a tuxedo, respectively. The event was perfectly harmonized by the melodious performance of Akhil Sachdeva, the renowned singer.
