1.Tell us about your Journey
I think my journey has been too simple as there were not many struggles. I was a fashion model, and I wanted to do movies after that, but it did not happen due to various reasons. Then I started giving auditions for TV, and I did my last show in January 2017. In August, I was already on the floor, working for my current show. So, there were not many struggles as God has been kind towards me.
2. Was there any defining moment as such when you realized that you wanted to be an actor?
I always wanted to be an actor. I don’t know if a lot of people know about this or not, Madhuri Dixit used to stay in my building. Being a child, I have practically grown up at her place, and I have gone on sets with her. So, I always knew I loved dancing or being in front of the camera.
3. What have you learned about yourself since you became a celebrity?
Trust me; I still do not think that I am a celebrity. Like, when people come and tell me, you are Sherlyn, and we watch your show. I feel like people do recognize me and love to see me on the TV. Also, I would like to give this credit to my mom and dad, who have taught me to be grounded.
4. What kind of role do you feel most comfortable with?
See I haven’t done too many roles yet, and to get into the whole skin of Sherlyn, it took some time. But I think I am pretty comfortable right now, so currently, I would go with Sherlyn.
5. Which character played by you is closer to your heart?
As I haven’t done too many characters, so Sherlyn is the character that’s close to my heart.
6. What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?
When I came to the sets, my first shot was to walk, and being a model, I was pretty confident that I am going to ace it. But I could not do it; a simple walk was so terrifying. There were around 150 people on the set, and everybody was looking at me. The whole challenge of getting Sherlyn out of me was a difficult part. Of course, my directors and co-actors have helped me in my journey. It was the biggest challenge for me to be comfortable with Sherlyn as I was not used to being around so many people. Walking in the ramp is definitely easy for me, but the acting was not.
7. Who supported you to come into this field?
I think my entire family supported me to come into this field. I come from a Marwari family, and a lot of girls are not allowed to come into this field. They are narrow-minded, but my mother, father, grandfather, grandmother, brother, everyone was super-supportive. You know there were times when I wanted to give up, but they are always there. They kept reminding me why I started in the first place and always pushed me.
8. What projects you are currently working on?
Presently, I am doing the show Kundali Bhagya which comes on Zee TV.
9. Who is your celebrity crush?
George Clooney and Milind Soman are my celebrity crush. I feel they are too hot.
10. What are your future plans?
I do not have any future plans yet, or maybe if you ask me what I have thought of or what I want to do, I would want to be a good human being. If you are asking me career-wise, I haven’t thought of anything as such.
11. What is your personal favorite performance?
Nothing till now, I would again say Sherlyn.
12. If you weren’t an actor, what would you have liked to have been?
I don’t know because I have always wanted to become an actor. I wanted to become Miss India, which I did, and second, was an Actor. Apart from that, I don’t know what I would have become.
13. Can you tell me one favorite humorous story from your acting career?
Every day is different for me as I am playing a negative character on screen, but on sets, I do a lot of fun activities. I think that I am made for shows like Comedy Nights, Kapil Sharma show, etc. One humorous thing is I cannot read lines in Hindi, every time I start shooting, I read out wrong words, and everyone starts laughing. So every day, there is one or the other fun things happening.
14. Is there a role you have not played but would like to someday?
I haven’t played many roles in my life, so I would like to play every role that comes my way. I want to play a lead role, a bubbly girl, a hot and sexy role, but I am already playing a hot and sexy role. I would love to play everything.
15. Which of your roles was the most challenging for you to capture?
Seriously, I need to tell you this that Sherlyn has been the most challenging role for me as I am not the cunning person in life. One day I cried on set, I told my director that I don’t know how to play Sherlyn. I don’t know how to make faces, raise your eyebrows, etc. Everyone on the set got worried and scared; they started thinking if I could ever play this role.
I was supposed to do a cameo for two months, but I completed playing the character for three years. Maybe I have done something right, which is why people loved my character. It is one of the reasons why I am still playing the part, but yes, it was difficult. Every day is a new day for me, and I love doing it.
