Interview with Beauty Island

Hello everyone, we invited Mr Pranav and Mrs Anupama Vatsa, the founders of Beauty Island in Patna, for an interview with ‘The Wedding Journals’. Here’s a quick look at their entrepreneurial journey.

  1. Tell us something about yourself and your company. 

Established in Patna, the Beauty island brand is a platform for every woman to follow their heart and try different makeups. It was created by me, Pranav and Mrs Anupma Vatsa. Our objective is to offer quality and affordable beauty services to women in Patna. If you are in search of an amalgamation of talent and personal vision, we can provide that. Our customers will be happy to know that we are the most recommended beauty salon in Bihar. 

2. What’s your competitive advantage, and why can’t it be copied?

Our salon has uniquely skilled hair professionals, and Anupama has played a major role in adapting modern hairdressing techniques. She has trained our hairstylists so our customers could be satisfied with the end result. We believe in optimizing and enhancing the style and create natural looks which separate us from others. Our unique tailored and wedding hairstyles give a competitive advantage over our competitors. 

3. What challenges/obstacles did you face in your journey so far?

Everyone faces challenges when they think to start to delve into a new thing. The same thing happened with us also, but we never lost hope. It was difficult for you to attract customers as no one wishes to believe a new unit so easily. The market has become competitive, and you really have to be hard working. Slowly, we started receiving clients, and they were happier after getting styled by our professionals. 

4. What are your expansion plans?

First of all, I would like to say we have come a long way. Being women entrepreneurs, it is not at all easy to survive. But presently, our beauty channel is no. 1 and has around 20K followers. It shows we have expanded and influenced a lot of people. Our bridal makeups are the best as people get inspired by that and wish to learn it. We have plans to open branches in different parts of India in the coming times. 

5. Tell our audience more about your failures? How should one bounce back?

There is no such specific failure that we have encountered. However, the difficult part was to make people believe we can do it. From hair-cutting and hairstyling to other makeup styles, different bridal makeups, we have trained stylists who have learned about them. Our social media portals have also helped us a lot as we have used them for posting images of our work and for marketing purposes. Our stylist has also learned all the latest styles being created by top professionals. 

6. How do you define success?

Success can only be achieved if you are determined and hardworking. Trust me; the last 25 years have not been easy for any of us. But we have never lost hope for even once. We always encourage and motivate each other and have done specialization in the best beauty schools across the world. 

7. Please share with us some of the challenges you faced in your journey.

As we said, that everyone does not want to take a risk with new brands. But it all depends on you how you can convenience the customers. We created a friendly and uplifting atmosphere and offered expert and thorough consultation before starting the process. With that, slowly, we have overcome our challenges.  

8. What you would advise someone starting their start-up and particularly to women entrepreneurs?

One piece of advice we want to give to women entrepreneurs is do not to lose hope. Believe in your dreams and plan how you are going to achieve them. It might take some time, but one day, you will definitely be one of the successful entrepreneurs.
